208. Slacker Parenting (AKA How to spend less time micromanaging and more time enjoying your kids)
Powered by RedCircle
Jesse and I are talking about slack parenting this week. This term might seem a bit scary to you, but hear us out because it’s not what it sounds like!
Listen in as I talk about Alli Worthington’s upcoming book Remaining You While Raising Them which is what inspired this topic. Alli talks about the overparenting that many women feel pressured to do, hovering over their children constantly and giving them very little opportunity to learn and grow on their own. It’s not actually a completely hands-off approach but rather an opportunity to focus on what she calls the “majors” rather than the “minors.”
We oftentimes don’t realize how capable kids actually are and how much overwhelming stress could potentially be alleviated by letting go just a little bit, giving us more room to lean in and love them. Not everything needs to be micromanaged.
