myself, “This will be a good book for people starting on the journey
to frugal living.” As I read, I was surprised to discover many ways that I could
save money on Christmas also.  In her usual straightforward style,
Crystal lays out easy to implement strategies to simplify Christmas, and enjoy it
more, knowing you won’t be paying for it in January.  Whether you are
new to frugal living, or have been at it for years, you will gain much

Celebrating and Savoring a Simple Christmas is one of those books that really helps you focus on what’s important for you this time of year. From organizing your gift list and planning your budget to helping your children learn grace and giving this time of year, this book gives simple tips and action steps to walk you through each step. Crystal breaks each step down into manageable tasks while giving examples of crafts and decor items throughout each chapter. This is a book that I plan to refer back to throughout the season as I work on each step in my planning/ holiday organizing and decorating. –Traci P.

Crystal Paine’s latest book is a godsend for me and my family. It came just at the moment I thought my head might spin right off of my body from the overwhelming since of stress that is the upcoming holiday season. Reading her book made me take a step back, reevaluate what is important and what is unnecessary. All the extravagant decorating and overabundance of gifts means nothing if I am too overwhelmed to enjoy any of it. This book has a great overview of the holiday season’s requirements….and how they can fit or even be simplified.  It is my no means a complete text, it is a short, to the point read that leaves the reader with a great starting point and a few action plans to get started.It covers, gift giving, decorating, charity, cleaning, cleaning in a hurry, dealing and avoiding childhood meltdows. For those that are concerned, there are no religious themes in the book. A boon for some and an omission for others, but it stays on point of a secular holiday with respect,  charity and giving in mind.  I would have loved to read more about a no money Christmas that she touches on, referring to the “law school “ days, but the book is chock full of info and tips. Some great links to other sites as well prove to be a wealth of information. As per her style Crystal has action points at the end of each chapter to help focus the reader into actions that reflect the lessons learned. A great little read, with some review on old true and tested ideas and some new ones as well. It left me thinking on how I can change and evolve my holiday strategies, and some new fun ideas to add to them as well. –Celina B.
